Easy Soft Whole Grain Tortilla Recipe Using "Whey"

Equipment

  • * Cast Iron Skillet
  • * Utensil to flip the tortillas
  • * Bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • * Airtight Container or Ziplock Bag for storing
  • * Pot with lid for keeping tortillas warm

Ingredients

  • 5 cups. whole grain flour
  • 1/4 cup. olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cup. warm water or warm whey remember to read your dough, if it needs more liquid add more, if it needs a little more flour just add until your dough is a beautiful tortilla dough *Your ratios can vary based off the climate you live in
  • 2 tsp. sea salt

Instructions

  • * For dry ingredients, add flour, salt and olive oil to a bowl
  • * Add your warm whey or your warm water a little at a time until you get a really good tortilla consistency
  • * With whole grains I look for a little bit more of a sticky
  • * Let rest for 5 minutes
  • * Heat up cast iron skillet or whatever skillet you have on a medium-high heat
  • * On floured service roll out your down with rolling pin. I use a little more than a golf ball size piece of dough.
  • Use oil to keep pan greased while cooking tortillas
  • * Your first tortilla may take a little longer to complete, once your pan is heated to the proper temperature it should take 30-45 seconds for each side.
